One of the most important things you can do before and after and in between massage treatments is to work on making sure you maintain a healthy posture and to practice proper home care. If you spend some time on home care you will increase your results by up to 50%! You want to ensure you give massage therapy a few weeks to achieve optimal results.

Please practice regular stretching. Stretching is one of the most important things you can do. Most injuries occur because of over use or over work due to activity at work or play. Many times sprains and strains are far too common. To ensure a proper stretch, please hold for 15-20 seconds each time and to stretch 3 times a day, best time is during or after a shower, work breaks and/or at bedtime.

Strengthening is also very important and is part of injury prevention. Weak muscles cannot protect the joints and spine allowing for injury to occur.

Hydrotherapy is an easy and inexpensive way to manage pain and decrease stress. Heat to the areas of tension will decrease pain and increase proper blood flow to the area. Ice packs are perfect for sports injury. Using heat and cold alternatively 10 minutes at a time will help flush out the area and decrease inflammation. A nice warm bath with 2 cups of epsom salts will pull toxins out of tired and worn out muscles, light some candles, turn lights low and use your favourite bubble bath or essential oil to give you that spa feel.
